2015 Nissan Micra: Though It Be Little…

Here’s a car that’s wonderfully Canadian. No, it’s not just made for winter and beer runs; it was engineered and designed with Canadian driving styles and needs in mind.

Plus, the North American version is only sold in Canada for the moment, not the USA. This is our car. This is our 2015 Nissan Micra.

We should be proud of this Canadian-bred car for a number of reasons, but mostly because of the price. Nissan took the small-car market by storm when it announced the pricing on a base version of the Micra: $9,998. Such a price was unheard of in North America. Everyone took notice. And it’s a good thing they did. In a highly competitive segment rife with fun-to-drive hatchbacks and small cars, the Micra needed to stand out. And it wasn’t just its price that ensured that.

But wait, what exactly do you get in a car for under $10k? Well, not much really. But that’s perfect: The base 2015 Nissan Micra S is rather basic with no A/C, no Bluetooth, crank windows, manual door locks, and a manual transmission. However, it’s brilliant in its simplicity and offers everything you’d want and need in a small, city-dwelling car.

There are four trim levels available for the Nissan Micra: S, SV, KROM, SR. Regardless of trim level, you’ll find the same spunky little engine across the board: a 1.6L 4-cylinder mill that pumps out 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. There are two transmission choices; a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Either way, the 2015 Nissan Micra is a blast to drive despite its small size and seemingly lower performance numbers. Its lightness and tiny stature mean it’s maneuverable and nimble. All good things.

If you’re in the market for a first car or a second car, the 2015 Nissan Micra really is a great choice. Of course, the bare-bones S model isn’t the only one available, and as you move up in the trim line you get amenities such as keyless entry, back-up camera, Bluetooth, plus the Nissan Micra has a nifty little Colour Studio option you can use to deck your Micra out in precisely the way you want it. Your Micra can be as unique as you, in every way.
