Nissan Altima Hybrid

Overview
POWERED BY GAS, ELECTRICITY AND PASSION.

The most advanced Altima ever. The Nissan Altima Hybrid Sedan. It's what happens when the passionate engineers at Nissan decide to build a benchmark sedan that's as responsive as it is responsible. And that's something everyone can smile about.

Exterior
    Sporty Design
The Altima Hybrid throws conformity out of the window with underbody air diffusers to reduce lift and help add stability at higher speeds. And shaved fender lines to reduce wind noise. In spite of its impressive efficiency the Altima Hybrid is still a driver’s car. Going green doesn’t mean compromising Altima’s reputation for impressive sporty design. Efficiency and performance come together in one attractive package.

    Bold Styling
It’s not shallow to love it for its looks. Altima’s distinctive, aggressive exterior design defies convention once again. Its sweeping 3-dimensional character lines, dual exhaust with single chrome-tip finishers, jet fighter-inspired taillights ensures style.

    Cab Forward
Altima's platform and shorter wheelbase allows for a true "cab forward" design with improved handling. So the exterior form accurately communicates the generous cabin space, while creating a powerful forward-moving silhouette.

Power sliding door…and wide open.   Automatic Headlights
Altima's distinctive Xenon headlights contribute to the strong performance-oriented styling. The "see-through" effect confidently reveals the technology of the car while they turn on and off automatically.

  Key Fob   Taillights
Staring is the polite thing to do. The dramatic rear styling is framed on each side by iconic jet fighter-inspired taillights that are both sleek and powerful.

    Dual Exhaust
Standard dual exhaust with single chrome tip finishers add to Altima’s performance-oriented personality. Take it for a ride, and you’ll find a system with a deep rich rumble that leaves a calling card as unmistakable as the sporty Altima itself.

Interior

Sleek Interior
Before you drive off, pause a moment to take in the rich materials, details like elegant metallic trim, the feel of the buttons and switches, even subtle things like the flowing contour line above the centre vents. You can afford to have expensive taste.

    Fine Vision Gauges
It’s your world, welcome to it. Indulge in the striking design of Altima’s Fine Vision Gauges, which depict performance, style and accuracy. The standard LCD Information Centre, located in the middle gauge, calculates your driving time, average speed, distance to empty, average fuel economy, and tells you the outside temperature.

Steering-Wheel-Mounted Controls
Focus on the road and keep things fingertip-close. With standard steering-wheel-mounted controls for the cruise control and available controls for the audio system, you can change CD tracks, turn the volume up and down, surf your radio presets, check the distance to empty, and more-all with your hands responsibly where they belong.

    8-Way Power Adjustable Driver's Seat
In the midst of all that space inside the Altima cabin, you can still find a very personal fit when you get in the driver's seat. After all, it adjusts eight different ways to put you in just the right position.

Heated Front Seats
Altima Hybrid’s heated cloth front seats let you and your passenger crank the heat, low or high, for a warm and comfortable ride through the cold winter months.

Intelligent Key
To protect and serve. Ultimate convenience is yours with Altima’s standard Intelligent Key. As you approach, your Altima recognizes your Intelligent Key’s unique signal and allows you to tap a button on the door handle or trunk to unlock them.

  Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System   Push-Button Ignition
When you’re ready to go, hit the Push Button Ignition and drive off – all without ever needing to touch a key or remote.

Audio System
More choices mean greater flexibility. Enjoy the sweet sounds of Altima’s 6-speaker AM/FM/CD sound system.

Auxiliary Audio Input
Plug it in and let it out. Big things come with this small package. You can plug anything from MP3/WMA players to karaoke microphones into the auxiliary audio input and entertain yourself and your passengers for hours.

Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control
Agree to disagree. Got a hot date? Cool him or her down, even if you like it hot. Dual-zone Automatic Climate Control lets drivers and front passengers set their own temperatures for a more comfortable night out on the town.

Driving Dynamics
  An Award-winning Engine

198 HP
Altima Hybrid’s energy drive shares work duties between an ultra-clean gasoline-powered 158 HP 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine and emissions-free 40 HP electric motor. Press the Push Button Ignition and you’ll be stunned by the silence as Altima starts up and begins accelerating in “EV” mode, running solely on the electric motor. As you continue to drive, the gasoline engine starts instantly and unobtrusively and takes over powering the vehicle. When added power is needed, the electric motor starts again and works with the gasoline engine. To maximize fuel economy and minimize environmental impact, the Altima automatically shuts the gasoline engine down when it isn’t needed, such as at stoplights, low speeds, or when coasting. And there’s no plug required – the Altima Hybrid stops as smart as it goes, capturing braking momentum and converting it to electrical energy to recharge the battery.

  Standard Auto Transmission

Hybrid Technology
Altima Hybrid surpasses not only U.S. government Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle(SULEV) standards, but also meets all ultra-stringent U.S. government Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) requirements, including near-zero evaporative emissions. Thanks to its advanced hybrid drivetrain, the Altima Hybrid goes even further, being classified as an ultra-clean, AT-PZEV vehicle.

Electronic Drive-by-Wire Throttle
A standard sensor on the gas pedal transmits throttle position to the engine electronically, providing on-demand torque control for smoother shifting.

Suspension
Independent thinking. Many sport sedans feature independent suspensions. But Altima takes the extra step, and employs a 350Z-inspired multi-link design for quick response, while still providing a supple ride. By separating the springs and shocks, friction is reduced, allowing the components to respond to the road without compromise.

Handling
Let’s torque – or not. Traditional front-wheel drive layouts offer many advantages, including excellent traction. But on a high-powered vehicle, you might notice what is called “torque steer” – the tendency of the steering to pull to one side under acceleration. By employing a rigid platform, lowering the engine slightly, and using specially designed suspension components, torque steer in Altima is virtually nonexistent, letting you enjoy both power and handling as they were meant to be.

    Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
In addition to standard 4-wheel disc brakes, a standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps you maintain steering control in an emergency stop. It works by pumping the brakes faster than humanly possible to help keep the wheels from locking up.

Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
Altima's ABS features Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) to constantly monitor weight distribution and adjust rear brake force for balanced braking power – even adjusting as fuel is used up. Now, you'll never underestimate the power of good brakes again.

Speed-Sensitive Steering
Sensitivity training. Altima’s vehicle speed-sensitive power steering constantly adjusts to give you the ideal amount of power assistance. More boost at lower speeds makes parking and manoeuvering easier, while less boost at higher speeds gives a secure, confident feel.

    Traction Control System (TCS)
All the power in the world is useless if you can’t get any grip. That’s why the Hybrid features standard TCS electronic traction control that can reduce throttle and/or upshift the transmission when it senses a front wheel slipping or spinning. And since it operates at all speeds, you get added confidence in a variety of driving situations.

Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)*
Because things can change from grip to slip in the blink of an eye, Altima Hybrid’s standard advanced VDC continuously monitors your steering and braking actions and compares them to the actual vehicle path. Is it senses the onset of plowing (understeer) or fishtailing (oversteer), the VDC system brakes individual wheels and/or reduces power to help you on your steered course.

*VDC cannot prevent accidents due to abrupt steering, carelessness, or dangerous driving techniques, or any other reason. Always drive safely.

Safety

Nissan Advanced Airbag System (AABS)
The Nissan Advanced Airbag System (AABS)* includes dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor. The inflation rate of these dual-stage airbags adjusts depending on crash severity and seat belt usage. If the front passenger seat is empty, a sensor will deactivate the airbag.

*Airbags are only a supplemental restraint system; always wear your seat belt. Even with the occupant-classification sensor, rear-facing child restraints should not be placed in the front passenger’s seat. Also, in addition to any other requirement of applicable law, all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seat properly secured in child restraints, booster seats, or seat belts according to their size. Airbags will only inflate in certain accidents; see your owner’s manual for more details. Inflated airbags shown for illustration purposes only. Actual airbags deflate after deployment.

Side-Impact Airbags
Standard side-impact supplemental airbags* are built into the front seats, so they move with you. While standard roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbags help provide head protection for front and rear-seat outboard occupants.

Active Front-Seat Head Restraints
Hood buckling creases allow the hood to buckle at predetermined points, helping prevent it from intruding into the passenger compartment in certain frontal impacts. Active front-seat head restraints move up and forward during a rear-end collision helping reduce the chances of whiplash-type injuries to front-seat passengers. Front seat belts with pre-tensioners automatically help tighten the belts when the airbags deploy, and load limiters help give a little when too much force is put on the belt.

LATCH System
Yet another way we’re working to help keep children safe. The Altima LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) lets you secure LATCH-compatible child restraints in the rear seat without having to use seat belts or a locking clip.

Snug Kids®
Another Nissan first and only. U.S. NHTSA-certified ‘Child Passenger Safety’ Technicians have dedicated over 1000 hours to checking over 4000 child seat installations in Nissans. The result: Not just the first, but also the only one in the industry, The Snug Kids® Child Safety Seat Fit Guide. This guide lists child seats that fit the rear seats of Nissan vehicles, as well as offers invaluable tips on correct installation.

Nissan Safety Shield
It majored in engineering and philosophy. The Nissan Safety Shield is our comprehensive approach to safety. It includes rigorous crash testing, over 50 standard safety features on every vehicle, available advanced technologies, and child-safety programs like Snug Kids®. In Altima, six standard airbags and active head restraints are just a few more examples of our safety philosophy in action.

    Anti-Theft System
The standard Anti-theft System flashes the headlights and sounds the horn if there's any attempt to open the doors or hood without a key, or remove key cylinders. You can also push the panic button on the Intelligent Key to sound the alarm for 20 seconds.

    Zone Body Construction
Zone Body construction incorporates a high-intensity cabin structure with crossmembers and reinforcements. Front and rear crumple zones help absorb impact energy before it reaches the passenger compartment. Energy-absorbing steering column compresses during certain frontal impacts to help reduce the likelihood of injury.
