3.5-litre V6 Engine
Thoroughbreds love to run, and the all-new Murano's 3.5-L V6 is no exception. Deep breathing comes courtesy of a double-overhead cam 24-valve engine and a continuously variable valve timing control system. With 90% of its 248 lb-ft of torque available at just 4400 rpm. It easily pulls away from the pack even at low speeds, but give it the spurs and you'll be rewarded with a most exhilarating ride.
Xtronic CVTTM When you move from a conventional automatic transmission to a more advanced Xtronic CVTTM (Continuously Variable Transmission), you leave a lot behind. Like shift shock. And that sudden loss of power when jumping from gear to gear. That's because Xtronic CVTTM employs a near-infinite number of ratios, tailoring the engine's output to suit your needs. Smooth.
Intuitive AWD
Wherever your dreams take you, go with the confidence of an intuitive All-Wheel Drive system. Unlike conventional Four-Wheel Drive, this advanced system recognizes the difference between cruising or cornering. And responds accordingly.
Every time you pull away from a stop, the all-new Murano's standard AWD turns on, delivering power to both the front and rear wheels for improved grip from the get-go. Once you're traveling comfortably, it doesn't make sense to send power to all four wheels. What does make sense is an All-Wheel Drive system that sends all the power up front, resulting in higher efficiency and less wear and tear.
Power is then moderated between the front and rear wheels as needed for enhanced cornering control and stability. Translation: When accelerating through a turn, the wheels can spin at a different rate, creating an unwelcome challenge. To help compensate, the AWD automatically transfers some of the power from the front to the rear wheels.
Variable Intake System & Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System
Nissan's variable intake system and variable valve timing system translates into instant power at any speed, from taking off at a stoplight to merging effortlessly into highway traffic.
Multi-link Independent Rear Suspension
Manoeuvre several side-to-side turns with uncanny precision. Absorb bumps with a road-smoothing 4-wheel independent suspension. The added edge? A responsive rear multi-link design that's directly inspired by 350Z: four links in the rear, separate placement of the rear springs and shocks, plus extensive use of aluminum components. So now your wheels maintain better contact with the pavement for sharper cornering. While the lightweight suspension helps allow for quicker reactions.
Sport-tuned Suspension
The all-new Murano LE comes with a sport-tuned suspension for an extra-firm, extra-tight ride. It features firmer springs and strut/shock absorbers.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
The all-new Murano's standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)* is an advanced system designed to help keep you on your steered path. So if your vehicle begins to oversteer (fishtail) or understeer (plow forward), VDC senses the change and can reduce engine output and/or apply appropriate brake pressure to specific wheels.
*VDC cannot prevent accidents due to abrupt steering, carelessness, or dangerous driving techniques, or any other reason. Always drive safely
Traction Control System (TCS)
You'll also have the advantage of a Traction Control System (TCS) to help limit wheel spin during acceleration, specifically by reducing throttle.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
Pumps the brakes faster than humanly possible in panic-braking situations. This helps prevent your wheels from locking to help you steer around unexpected obstacles.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
Sends extra force to the rear brakes when it senses the additional weight of extra people in the back seat or even a full tank of gas.
Brake Assist (BA)
Senses how hard you're braking in an emergency and automatically helps boost performance by applying maximum braking pressure.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Alerts the driver if low pressure is detected in any tire. Monitoring tire pressure helps prevent uneven tire wear and reduces the risk of tire damage.

U.S. NHTSA-certified 'Child Passenger Safety' technicians have dedicated over 1000 man-hours to checking over 4000 child seat installations in Nissans. This guide lists child seats that fit the rear seats of Nissan vehicles, as well as offers invaluable tips on correct installation.
Nissan Advanced Airbag System (AABS)
Includes dual-stage supplemental front airbags equipped with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor*. These dual-stage airbags adjust their inflation rate, depending on the severity of impact and seat belt use. If the front passenger seat is empty, a sensor actually deactivates that airbag. In addition, standard side-impact supplemental airbags are built into the front seats, so they move with you as you adjust your seat. Above, standard roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental airbags help protect front and rear outboard passengers*.
*Airbags are only a supplemental restraint system; always wear your seat belt. Even with the occupant classification sensor, rear-facing child restraints should not be placed in the front-passenger's seat. Also, in addition to any other requirement of applicable law, all children 12 and under should ride in the rear seat properly secured in child restraints, booster seats, or seat belts according to their size. Seat Belts
Front seatbelts utilize pretensioners to help tighten the belt when front or curtain airbags deploy. And if your body puts too much force on the belt, load limiters give a bit. What's more, active front-seat head restraints help reduce the chance of whiplash injuries to front-seat occupants by moving up and forward during certain rear-end collisions.
LATCH
LATCH is another way we're working to help keep children safe. The LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) lets you secure LATCH-compatible child restraints in the second row without having to use seat belts or a locking clip.

Anti-theft System
The Anti-theft System flashes the headlights and sounds the horn if there's any attempt to open the doors or hood without a key, or remove key cylinder.
Vehicle Immobilizer Key System
The Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer Key System makes it more difficult for anyone to steal your car without your actual key. A microchip inside the key sends signal telling the engine to start. Without the key, the chip, and the signal, your Murano won't start.
