2017 Nissan GT-R: So. Much. Yes.

Godzilla’s always been an attractive, forbidden-fruit kind of car, and this latest iteration only makes the desire stronger.

When Godzilla arrived back on our North American shores a few years ago, its handcrafted 3.8L V6 shook the earth, and its looks rocked the auto industry. Well, the beast is back and it’s got a few new tricks up its muscle-filled sleeves.

    Godzilla Returns!

Unveiled at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, the latest edition of Nissan’s answer to the supercar segment truly is a beast. Still featuring a hand-built 3.8L V6 twin-turbocharged engine that produces 20 more horses over the previous generation for a staggering total of 565 horsepower (and 467 lb-ft of torque). More power means more grunt, and with a new titanium exhaust along with Active Sound Enhancement that grunt will be heard from quite a distance away.

A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, just as it did in the previous model. With more refined and smoother shifts thanks to tweaks to the system mean the 2017 Nissan GT-R isn’t just a ridiculously fast vehicle, but it can also be a comfortable one.

Updated suspension as well as an acoustic glass windshield mean the 2017 Nissan GT-R isn’t just blistering quick, it’s also a viable long-distance road-tripper now. Nappa leather lines the dash, and a brand new 8” infotainment screen is larger than last year’s model and Nissan’s also moved the paddle shifters to the steering wheel instead of the column, making it much friendlier while cornering.

Now, looking at the 2017 GT-R quickly you might not notice that much of a change in the exterior styling, however, Nissan’s made some subtle yet significant upgrades to the look. Most notably, the 2017 Nissan GT-R now sports the V-Motion from grille and falls in line with the rest of the Nissan family. There’s also a new lip spoiler and bumper, and the side sills are wider to improve airflow.

    The Holy Grail of Supercars

Oh, and did we mention there’s a brand new colour called Blaze Metallic Orange? Yeah, that’s right. So, if the sound of the 2017 Nissan GT-R isn’t enough to make you turn your head and take notice, then this new exterior colour most definitely will!

Godzilla’s always been an attractive, forbidden-fruit kind of car, and this latest iteration only makes the desire stronger. With bold new looks and an updated engine and performance, the 2017 Nissan GT-R is set to take on the best of the best in the supercar world, and win. Every. Single. Time.
